Atelier Barber Co. launches in the heart of Oak Lawn

The Strip on Cedar Springs has become a little more swanky with the arrival of Atelier Barber Co. to the neighborhood. The posh new men’s barbershop offers guests luxurious amenities as well as top-notch hair care and grooming services.

Created by barber extraordinaire Chris Avanti, Atelier is the new take on a client driven barbershop experience that strives to leave each guest looking (and feeling) their best. With complimentary cocktails in hand, clients relax and enjoy their services in a chic, upscale atmosphere designed by the shop’s owner.

Atelier marks Avanti’s fourth sole venture, and with the new barbershop, he hopes to give his guests everything they could possibly imagine, in terms of personal grooming.

“We do full-service haircare,” Avanti says. “Not full service as in manicures and pedicures, but anything to do with your hair or beard.”

Among the services Atelier offers are haircuts, head shaves, hot towel shaves, fades, designs and coloring. Hair makes the man, and every man who walks through Atelier’s doors leaves feeling like royalty. 

“Anyone who comes here is going to get a quality haircut from any of our barbers,” Avanti says. “We are not just trying to sell a pretty image. I want us to stand out. I’m giving them the total package.”

With Atelier, Avanti wants to be just as much a staple on The Strip as the clubs, bars and other small businesses. He hopes to add a necessary outpost to The Strip without taking away from the significance of the neighborhood and the community.

While Avanti employees only the best barbers, he has emphasized a component in which he continues education for himself and for his team. He believes that with rapidly changing hair trends, there is always room for improvement.

“There’s always going to be a new hairstyle, there’s always going to be a new trend. We want to stay on top of that. I focus on bringing in educators from different states and different cities to keep my barbers up to date. Now, with social media, you can tap into a whole new realm of style. I want my staff to be able to learn and to offer those styles here. We’re never going to tell you ‘We can’t do it.’ That’s not in our vocabulary.”

Avanti has also embarked on creating his own hair product line, now available in-shop.
