MARIE KELLY OF KELLY CPA IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF ACCOUNTANT, BRINGING TIMELESS EXPERIENCE TO ENTREPRENEURS
Kelly CPA is the modern approach to the traditional accounting firm, and founder Marie Kelly is certainly a different kind of accountant.
After decades of professional experiences serving some of the most prestigious accounting firms in North Texas, Marie saw the need to supply responsive, hassle-free tax, accounting and consulting services to individuals, entrepreneurial businesses, creatives, not-for-profit organization and more. She launched Kelly CPA in 2016 to let these types of visions loose with keen insight into financial matters.
For those who may not be aware, CPA stands for “certified public accountant,” which refers to accountants licensed in performing public services. But unlike a lot of other accounting firms, Marie seeks to use her expansive knowledge on all things financial to champion the modern underdogs: young entrepreneurs.
“We should always encourage new ideas to enter the marketplace,” says Marie. “Our mission is to add clarity, subtract hassle and help businesses formulate their success.”
Marie is quick to advise against the possibility of a business nothaving a CPA as an advisor. “Young businesses can quickly get into financial troubles and try to put their tax troubles under the rug, however, unlike fine wine, old taxes don’t get better with time. You need to take care of them.”
“Dealing with entity tax selection, estimated tax payments, sales tax, franchise tax, payroll taxes and income taxes can be overwhelming and become a recipe for disaster. Not handling some of these issues properly can be a criminal offense.”
Marie devotes the same boundless energy that has become her hallmark to a range of community causes, too. She has served on the board of leading Dallas organizations, including The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, Ursuline Academy, and the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Foundation. Marie is currently treasurer of the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
After graduating from Ursuline Academy of Dallas, Marie attended Texas A&M University where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She has been a licensed CPA for over thirty years in Dallas. Before founding Kelly CPA, she was a partner at the Southwest’s largest accounting firm, where one of her many responsibilities was overseeing the education and training of the company’s staff.
